Merry Christmas!
Posted December 24, 2011

This morning was cool, dark, wet and windy. That
may not sound nice on any other day, but it is a perfect Halloween day.
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays of the year. It seems a little different now, people don't seem to get into it as much as they used to. I remember growing up and being so excited about dressing up in what I thought was my "scary" costume and heading out into the night. Just to clarify, when I say "night", I mean 5:30, I was after all under 11 years old. I don't want people thinking my mom let me roam the streets till the wee hours of the morning. Anyways, back to the differences, when I was growing up, the majority of the houses were decorated. Some had some pretty elaborate set-ups with graveyards and people that would jump out and scare you. Yes I was scared, but the memories I have made it worth it. Now a days I rarely see any decorations and many people I know say that they rarely get trick -or -treaters anymore. Maybe it is just where I live, but from what I have heard, Halloween has gotten less popular lately, which I find kind of sad.
Halloween is a time to let loose and forget about all the day to day things. You can dress up in silly costumes and venture out into the night. You can hand out candy to all of the trick-or-treaters that come knocking on your door. You can curl up on your couch, order a pizza and get scared as you watch cheesy Horror movies. You can take a younger sibling, cousin or family friend trick or treating. Or maybe you have another tradition that you and your family and friends enjoy doing. Whatever it is that you choose to do tonight please remember to have fun, Halloween isn't about being serious. Don't forget to eat all the candy you want, calories don't count today.
