I kill everything I touch), but I had success growing herbs, tomatoes, and peppers in pots on my deck last year. My only advice - use a much bigger pot for the tomatoes and peppers than you think you need! And funny, I just joined twitter last week too :) I have a brown thumb (ie. I too live in an apartment and miss growing my own herbs and plants. Our balcony gets very windy though, last year the flowers I planted didn't survive too long...:( I hope you have better luck!
