Mmm! My mum buys battered cod from our local chippy (we live in England) and we have them in sandwiches like this, so good!!

I also recommend battered chocolate bars if you're feeling particularly unhealthy!! (obviously on their own or with icecream)

I've never attempted to make beer battered fish. I've always indulged in them at state fairs, but reading about yours makes me want to make your sandwiches.

Thanks for the comments everyone! Jackie- It wasn't straight from the fridge, but it was still a little cold. I say I had it sitting on the counter for about 15 minutes or so before I used it. Memoria- Thanks! You could use a non-alcoholic beer such as O'Douls, Sharps or Beck's. They do have some alcohol in them so someone under 21 can't purchase them but they do have less alcohol than beer.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but is there a good non-alcoholic substitute for the beer?

This sandwich looks fabulous!

Hi Des

I was wondering did you use the beer straight from the refrigerator or at room temperature.
