Monday Musings

Happy Monday! This past weekend was a busy one for us. We got to visit some family, meet a new baby, visit friends, celebrate a 60th birthday and enjoy a 60s style steak dinner in honor of Mad Men for our Sunday dinner with friends. We also got some backyard time in and Kellan used it to push around his Radio Flyer, kick around a ball and try to catch bubbles. I cannot wait for summer!

  • Speaking of Mad Men, what did you think of last night’s episode? I thought it was very well done. I just love the writing on the show and the acting is great. The story lines so far are interesting. Although I’d like to see more Joan and Roger on the show. How do you think it’s going?
  • I did a little more planting this weekend. I planted some more green beans and some strawberries. My radishes are starting to come up and so is my kale. It also seems like some of my garlic and onions that I planted in October last year are getting close. It’s so exciting to see something grow from those little seeds I planted. I think I am really beginning to like gardening.
  • Speaking of gardening, I am considering also starting some potato towers. Sunset magazine has a pretty good tutorial, that makes it seem pretty easy. Have you ever tried it?
  • Baseball season is in full swing and while they started out looking good, our Mariners haven’t been doing too well in theses last two series. It is only April though so I’ve still got some hope left. How is your team doing?

Do try potatoes. Years ago when I lived in Chicago I planted potatoes in my parent’s backyard. My Dad thought I was crazy but when October rolled around n we dug them up they were the best potatoes we ever ate. I dug them up carefully wrapped them in tissue paper and stored them in our cold basement all winter. You really yield alot n the next year my Dad did the planting.Happy Planting!
