Introducing Recipe Box and a Giveaway!

It’s a pretty exciting day here. First, I’ve got a fancy new recipe box feature to share with you all and second I’m giving away a few copies of The Pioneer Woman’s new cookbook Food from my Frontier. I told you it was exciting!

First, let me talk about my new recipe box feature. I’ve teamed up with Zip List to bring you an easier way to save all of your favorite Life’s Ambrosia recipes in one place. You’ll notice that I’ve added a Save Recipe button to each recipe post, so you can now save your favorites to your own personal recipe boxes, along with any other recipes from many other websites and food blogs like, Simply Recipes, Recipe Girl and Kayln’s Kitchen.

In addition to saving your recipes in the recipe box, you can also save the recipe ingredients to your online shopping lists by simply clicking “add to shopping list”. How cool is that?!

If you do not already have a Zip List account when you click the recipe box link you’ll be prompted to create an account. You can use your email or a social networking account such as Facebook or Twitter. Once you create an account you’ll be able to access your recipe box and shopping list from my website, and using free mobile apps so you have what you need to plan meals and grocery shop wherever you go. I really hope that you all like this new addition to the blog and I’m excited to hear what you think so please let me know!

Now on to the giveaway…

When I first started toying around with the idea of starting a blog, I perused the internet looking for inspiration and that is when I discovered The Pioneer Woman. A few dozen confessions and recipe posts later, I was determined that I too could start a blog. Her writing, wit and down right scrumptious recipes gave me the little push I needed to get this blog started. I even got to meet her once when she came to Seattle. I am pretty sure I sounded like a star struck idiot in front of her, but you know what, she was every bit as witty and sweet in person as she is on her blog.

To celebrate the release of Ree’s new cookbook, Food from my Frontier, I’m giving away THREE copies. This cookbook is loaded with all kinds of yummy recipes with drool worthy pictures including one for Fried Chicken Tacos. That’s right. Fried. Chicken. Tacos.  All you have to do to enter is leave a comment below telling me your favorite taco filling. Super easy huh?

The best tacos ever America’s Test Kitchen
    Serves 6
For warm tortillas, wrap the tortillas in foil and heat in a 350 degree oven for 15 minutes.

    3 tablespoons unsalted butter
    4 garlic cloves, minced
2 teaspoons minced canned chipotle chiles in adobo
    ½ cup orange juice
    1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    ¾ cup chopped fresh cilantro
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1½ pounds)
    1 teaspoon yellow mustard
    Salt and pepper
    12 (6-inch) flour tortillas

    1. POACH CHICKEN Melt butter in large skillet over medium-high heat. Add garlic and chipotle and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Stir in orange juice, Worcestershire, and ½ cup cilantro and bring to boil. Add chicken and simmer, covered, over medium-low heat until meat registers 160 degrees, about 10 minutes, flipping chicken halfway through cooking. Transfer to plate and tent with foil.
    2. SHRED AND SAUCE Increase heat to medium-high and cook until liquid is reduced to ¼ cup, about 5 minutes. Off heat, whisk in mustard. Using 2 forks, shred chicken into bite-sized pieces and return to skillet. Add cilantro to skillet and toss until well combined. Season with salt and pepper. Serve with tortillas.
