3 years and 500 recipes. Holy cow. 3 years. 500 recipes. That’s a lot of time. That is a lot of food. But let me let you in on a little secret, I have loved every minute of it. I have loved trying recipes. I have loved failing at recipes and trying until I get them right. I have loved shopping for new ingredients. I have loved exploring this passion that I have had ever since I microwaved my first batch of meatballs when I was 10 years old. And above all I have loved sharing my life with you all. And I have loved you sharing bits of yours with me. To show you how much I appreciate you all being here and reading the blog, I am celebrating this blogaversary with a little giveaway.
I decided the best way to celebrate and to say thank you for being there was to give away one of my favorite kitchen items: A 3.5 qt Le Creuset Round French Oven. It’s enameled cast iron. It’s oven and stove top safe. And is really easy to clean. I simply adore mine that Ryan gave me as a birthday present a couple of years ago. I use it as often as I can. It works great for soups, deep frying, stews, chilis , roasts and spaghetti sauce. Basically it’s perfect for the comfort food season that just started.
In addition to being helpful and practical in the kitchen, I love my Le Creuset because it is just so pretty. No matter what color, they all just add a certain pop to your kitchen aresnal. And we all know that that is the most important thing right? For this giveaway I decided to go with the color that caught my eye as soon as I walked into Mrs. Cook’s, Fennel. It’s green. It’s luscious and I wouldn’t blame you if you won it and left it on your counter, just to stare at it. I mean really. It is that pretty.
I am doing a lot of talking up of Le Creuset here but it’s important that you know the people at Le Creuset don’t know me. I’ve chosen to purchase and give this away because I want to.
Unlike previous giveaways, you’ve got two chances to win. For one entry simply leave a comment in the comments section of this post telling me what your favorite comfort food is. For the second entry leave a comment telling me your favorite comfort food on the Life’s Ambrosia Facebook page. I’ll pick the winner at random. Good luck! And again, thank you so much for reading and I look forward to many more years and many more recipes.
Giveaway Details:
2 entries max per person (One via a comment on the blog post and one via a comment on the Facebook fan page)
Due to shipping costs I can only ship to US mailing addresses
Contest ends 10/14/11 at 5:00PM PST.
Winner will be picked at random.
I have personally purchased the product. I have not been compensated in anyway for this post or product recommendation.
Thanks for participating everyone! The giveaway is now over. Winner will be announced by Monday.
And the winner is!
Have new recipes emailed to you.

October 10, 2011 at 8:27 amCongratulations on 3 wonderful years of great recipes and interesting stories of family life. I truly enjoy them both!!
I would have to say that my favorite comfort food is “Pasta” and being more specific, Penne with Broccoli Rabe, yummy. Especially since now I don’t have to cook, because my husband now cooks. Yippee. I use to go away for several days to visit my Mom and I would cook in advance and freeze for his dinners. Well one time in late 2009 I was gone more than anticipated and he ran out, so I just told him how to make his favorite, linguini with shrimp marinara, and from then he got the bug. So, now I lost my kitchen. I’m ok with that now, but it took a while to relinquish it. I get it back though when I want to bake.

October 8, 2011 at 5:52 pmNot long ago, my mother handed over her favorite cookbook. One that she had worked with nearly 50 years. It was translated from Italian to English, I believe, sometime in the 40’s. I’ve always been drawn to preparing meals, especially for others. But lately, the past few years or so, I have gotten lazy in my menu. Around the time my dear mom sent me her beloved book, I decided that signing up for some graduate level cooking advice would be a new chapter in my life. That weekend, I did a brief Internet search for recipes. What I settled on was the Jalepeno Mac and
Cheese via Life’s Ambrosia. Now, a potato leek soup later , some Sacharin wings over a losing team, and a zucchini bread for dessert – I am hooked. All my best to you! I think you are amazing
Cheryl W.
October 8, 2011 at 5:29 pmMy ultimate comfort food is soup. I love soup of all kinds. Clam Chowder, homemade chicken noodle, Italian wedding soup and Oyster stew are a few of my favorites. Nothing like a cool fall day, a bowl of piping hot soup watching movies with my family. That’s living to me!

October 8, 2011 at 5:08 pmI would hunker down at the dinner table with no radio on, no tv, no cell service, a place setting, a fork, a knife, and a plate of chicken parm & eggplant rollatini over linguini in marinara. Afterwards, I would wash the dishes whilst reminiscing about the meal.

October 8, 2011 at 4:37 pmFirst, congratulations on 3 years! I’ve been following your blog for a couple of years and I find it inspirational. Thank you for all your work! I was born and spent my early years in western Washington State, so visiting your blog reminds me of all the things I love about the area. For comfort food, my initial thought was pasta. But then I read through the responses already posted and oh my,… hamburger vegetable soup, CLAM CHOWDER, pot roast, chili with cornbread, roasted chicken, there are just so many! In the end, it probably comes down to what my family lovingly refers to as default dinner: spaghetti with meatsauce.
Best wishes to you and your family!

October 7, 2011 at 9:04 pmMy husband makes homemade chili in our big red LeCruset (6.5 qts.) dutch oven Talk about your “advance preparation!” Planning starts early in the spring when he decides which varieties of tomoatoes to grow, starts the seeds, maps out where the rows of vegetables will go. He grows the tomatoes, beans (some years, if we are lucky!), peppers, onions, jalepenos. All summer long we water and weed, and in the fall, he dons camo gear and heads out into the woods. He loves to hunt, and typically makes his chili with half ground venison, half ground beef. (Although last year we also had elk and javelina chorizo in one batch — amazing!) He serves it with home made cornbread, and tall, cold glasses of milk. Its one of my all time-favorite meals, as much for the award-winning chili, as for the love and effort he puts into the creation of this fantastic meal. Comfort beyond belief. And that little green Le Creuset would be the PERFECT pan to bake that corn bread in!
