Monday Musings

Hi friends. A run of the mill Monday Musings post just does not seem right today. Unfortunately, this past Saturday, en route to celebrate a 50th anniversary, a few members of my extended family were involved in a car accident. Tragically, my step-aunt did not survive. My two step-cousins will be alright but at the moment they are still recovering. Our family is heartbroken but we too will be OK.

I just wanted to write this post to say the only thing I can really think of at this point: hold your family close. Share meals together. Hug. Play together. Sing. Dance. Laugh. Don’t go to bed angry. Love each other unconditionally and don’t take each other for granted because it really can all change in a split second.

And to Aunt Carol, while we didn’t get to spend too much time together or get to know each other very well in the years since our families joined, we will cherish the time we did spend with you, we will always love you and we will forever miss you.

My deepest sympathies, and how tragic that such a milestone and happy event will forever be shrouded in sorrow.
