Triple Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies

If you haven’t noticed by looking at my dessert page, I personally love chocolate and last week I had a big craving for something chewy, chocolatey and peanutty.   These little gems are a result of that craving. I used super moist triple chocolate cake mix, melted butter, brown sugar and chocolate peanut butter morsels to make some of the best chewy cookies I have ever had.

Recently I have heard a few people talk about how they melt the butter when preparing their cookies. I had never heard of that before, most of the recipes that I had read called for softened butter. But after hearing so much talk about it, I thought I would give it a try and I think it is a little trick that I will use from now on.

Triple Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies

Soft and chewy triple chocolate peanut butter cookies.
Prep Time 10 mins
Cook Time 10 mins
Total Time 20 mins
Course Desserts
Cuisine American
Servings 3 Servings

Ingredients

Ingredients:

  • 1 stick 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 package triple chocolate super moist cake mix I used Betty Crocker
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 10 ounce package swirled milk chocolate and peanut butter morsels ( I used Nestle)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Whisk together melted butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Whisk in eggs. Slowly add in cake mix. Mix until smooth, batter will be thick. Fold in morsels.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Make rounded teaspoonfuls of cookie dough and lay them 3 inches apart on the baking sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes, cookies will be slightly underdone in the center. Let cool slightly, then transfer to cooling rack to finish cooling, although they are pretty good warm too :)

Notes

If you can't manage to find the swirled milk chocolate and peanut butter morsels, peanut butter chips would work just as well. If, and that is a big IF, you can manage to share these, you'll be a very popular person! I passed them out at work last week and they were gone in a flash. People still keep asking me for them. Enjoy!

I just made these – they are fantastic! Instead of a 1/2 cup of butter, i did 1/4 of butter and 1/4 of peanut butter which added more peanut buttery goodness :)

    Thanks Rita!
The Craving Chronicles: Chocolate and PB is one my favorite combos too! There are a lot of these cookies around, I think that the cake mix help adds to the soft, chewy texture that I have come to love :)

Oh, NOW you’re speaking my language! Chocolate and pb is one of my all time favorite combos! These cookies sound a lot like cookies I’ve made before, except mine didn’t use cake mix.
