French Dip Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 pounds chuck roast trimmed of excess fat
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons avocado oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried savory or dried thyme
  • 1/2 yellow onion sliced
  • 4 garlic cloves chopped
  • 6 hoagie rolls
  • 6 slices provolone cheese

Instructions

  • Season both sides of the chuck roast with salt and pepper.
  • Turn the instant pot to saute and add avocado oil. Cook roast on both sides until browned, about 5 minutes per side.
  • Add soy sauce, worcestershire sauce, beef broth, savory, onion and garlic.
  • Place lid on instant pot and seal. Cook on high pressure for 75 minutes. Do a 20 minute natural release.
  • Shred meat and strain au jus if desired.
  • Place bottom of hoagie rolls on a baking sheet, top with shredded beef and cheese. You can also put the top half of the hoagie rolls on the baking sheet to toast them as well. Place under broiler just until cheese melts 1 - 2 minutes. Serve with au jus.
