Ingredients

  • 4 calamari steaks
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup plain bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon granulated garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • oil for frying

Instructions

  • Combine plain bread crumbs, panko bread crumbs, granulated garlic and salt together in a shallow dish.
  • Dip calamari steaks into egg and allow excess to drip off.
  • Dredge calamari steaks into breadcrumb mixture.
  • Heat 1/4 inch oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot fry calamari steaks, in batches if necessary, 2 - 3 minutes per side or until cooked through. The edges will curl slightly.

Notes

Be sure not to overcrowd the pan. You may need to fry the calamari in two batches depending on the size of your pan. Keep cooked calamari on a cooling rack on top of a baking sheet in a warm oven in between batches.
