Basil Whipped Goat Cheese is a quick, easy appetizer. This soft spreadable cheese is perfect to add to charcuterie boards or spread on crostini.

If you’re ever in need of a quick and easy appetizer for unexpected guests or a last minute party appetizer, whipped goat cheese is a great option. It’ll impress your guests, it tastes amazing and you only need a handful of ingredients and a food processor to get it on your table.

You can add so many different mix-ins to whipped goat cheese but for this recipe, I’m adding sweet summer basil. It brings a sweet earthy flavor to the tangy goat cheese. You’re going to love it!

Let’s talk about what you will need to make it.

Basil Whipped Goat Cheese Ingredients:

One of my favorite things about this recipe is the fact that you only need three ingredients (plus salt and pepper) to make it. That’s it!

  • GOAT CHEESE: Use plain goat cheese for this recipe you don’t want the added herbs in the other kinds. Goat cheese is usually sold in a log in the deli section of the grocery store. You can also find goat cheese crumbles which would be ok to use in this recipe as well. It’s just important to make sure that the cheese is room temperature so it whips better.
  • FRESH BASIL: You need fresh basil for this recipe, dried basil won’t give you the same flavor or pale green color.
  • GARLIC: Only one small clove is necessary. It’ll add a subtle garlic flavor without being over-powering.
  • SALT AND PEPPER: Keep in mind that goat cheese is salty so you likely won’t need much. Be sure to taste before adding any.

Step by Step Photos And Instructions:

Not only does this Basil Whipped Goat Cheese only require a handful of ingredients, it is so easy to make. All you need is a food processor to whip the goat cheese. I use my small mini-food processor (affiliate link) for this.

STEP #1: Combine room temperature goat cheese, garlic and basil together in a food processor. Pulse until smooth.

STEP #2: Scrape down the sides of the food processor, add salt and pepper. Pulse a few more times until the mixture is smooth. Serve with crostini or veggies.

Storage and Leftovers:

This will keep for a few days in the refrigerator. Just store in a covered container.

Delicious! My only comment is that I used a half clove of fresh garlic and then I roasted a full clove in the oven with olive oil so it would get more of a garlic taste without the sharpness. Very happy with the results!

I feel like “whipping” is my new favorite thing! I recently whipped cottage cheese…this whipped goat cheese would be great on the deck as a summer appetizer!
