When it comes to pizza, my boys are pepperoni lovers. Hands down. I can’t lie, it is one of my favorites too. There is just something about a slice of pepperoni pizza. That being said, when I have the control to make a pizza with only myself in mind, I like to add other stuff to my pepperoni pizza. And this Spicy Pepperoni French Bread Pizza is exactly what I mean.
We haven’t been having pizza Fridays lately. Boo, I know. Mostly because it has been so hot and I have not wanted to turn on the oven. But last week, I got the craving again and it was cool so I decided it was time. However, I did not have time to make pizza dough, instead I decided to turn pizza night into french bread pizza night. It’s one of my favorite kitchen short cuts.
One of the best things about french bread pizza is the fact that you can easily make two kinds of pizza. Which, when dealing with little ones who freak if there is a speck of anything other than pepperoni on their pizza and parents who want a little more than pepperoni on theirs, is an awesome thing.
For me “a little more than pepperoni” means a few things: sliced black olives, fresh chopped garlic, creamy crumbled goat cheese and, for a little kick, some sliced jalapeños. It is one of my favorite combos of pizza, ever and although I usually enjoy it on traditional pizza crust, it is pretty darn delicious on french bread too.
This recipe makes two of the same halves but, if you like something a little less spicy leave the jalapeños off one half.
And if you want something a little more rustic check out my Roasted Veggie and Sausage French Bread Pizza.
Happy Pizza Friday!
