Food is one of the essential components when it comes to planning any party. Whether you’re planning a backyard BBQ, game day celebration or a holiday extravaganza, you’ve got to have a menu that is sure to leave your guests raving.

It also helps if the recipes are easy to make and can be made ahead of time so that you can enjoy the party you spent so much time planning. That is where recipes like this Easy Cheese Ball Come into play. It’s literally a ball of cheese so people are going to love it. You’re going to love that you can make it the day before and simply put it out for the party goers to enjoy.

Let’s talk about what ingredients you’ll need to make it:

Cheese Ball Ingredients:

Cheese ball ingredients.
  • CREAM CHEESE: This is what is going to hold the cheese ball together. You’ll want to make sure that it is room temperature so that it is easy to work with.
  • SHARP CHEDDAR: Freshly shredded sharp cheddar will work the best in this recipe. Skip the pre-shredded cheese.
  • GREEN ONIONS: Will add a subtle oniony flavor and a pop of color.
  • WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE: Adds an umami, savory flavor to the cheese ball.
  • GRANULATED GARLIC: You can also use garlic powder in this recipe if it is what you have on hand.
  • PEPPER
  • SALT: Keep in mind that cheese is pretty salty so you might not need much.
  • PECANS: Chopped pecans are used to coat the cheese ball and give it a nutty, crunchy exterior.

Step by Step Photos and Instructions:

Making a cheese ball is pretty easy but there are a couple of key steps that can help make sure it’s successful. Follow along with these step by step photos and instructions.

  • STEP #1: Whip the softened cream cheese until it’s smooth. This will make it easier to fold in the other ingredients as well as form it into a ball.
  • STEP #2: Fold in cheddar cheese, green onions, Worcestershire sauce, granulated garlic and pepper. Mix well and season to taste with salt. Cover and refrigerate for about 30 minutes so that it is easier to work with.
  • STEP #3: Form into a ball. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for several hours. Tip: To keep the ball shape, place the cheese ball in a bowl while it’s chilling.
  • STEP #4: Remove cheese ball from refrigerator and roll into chopped pecans. Serve at room temperature so it is easier to spread.

I love to serve this cheese ball with buttery crackers like Ritz or Townhouse.
