Jalapeño Popper Cheese Bread is everyone’s favorite happy hour snack in cheese bread form. Spicy jalapeños, 3 different cheeses and crusty bread. It doesn’t get much better!

This is bad. Really bad. But that, my friends, is what makes it so ridiculously good. It’s like that with most things right? Like reality TV. Entertainment Magazines. 90s boy bands and Pretty Little Liars. All of which, I’m not going to lie, I thoroughly enjoy. Just like I thoroughly enjoyed this jalapeño cheesy bread. It’s spicy and so so cheesy, I dare you to make it and not enjoy it.

What is a jalapeño popper?

Traditionally a jalapeño popper is a jalapeño stuffed with cream cheese, coated in a batter and fried until golden.

The jalapeño is spicy, the cheese is gooey and melty. They are pretty much cheesy jalapeño bliss. And I adore them. For that reason, I am always thinking of other ways to enjoy this flavor combination. Enter this Jalapeño Popper Cheese Bread.

What ingredients do you need to make jalapeño popper cheese bread?

Like traditional jalapeño poppers, this cheese bread recipe calls jalapeño and cream cheese. To make things even cheesier, I add cheddar and mozzarella cheese. This just helps bring everything together.

You will also need a tablespoon of mayonnaise. It sounds weird, but I use mayonnaise in most of my stuffed cheesy breads because the oil helps smooth everything out.

Ingredients for Jalapeno Popper Bread

Finally, let’s talk bread. I use french bread because of it’s crunchy outside and soft inside. You could use a sour dough loaf or a crusty Italian bread too! You’ll only need half of the loaf, I recommend saving the other half for something else like garlic bread or homemade croutons.

Tips for making cheese bread:

I’ve made a lot of cheese breads over the years, and I’ve gathered a few tips along the way.

Tip 1: Use softened cream cheese. Softened cream cheese will be easier to mix with the other ingredients. To make it even easier to spread, you can whip it with a hand mixer first.

Tip 2: Use cheeses that melt well. Cheeses like mozzarella, cheddar and pepper jack are good. Use hard cheeses like parmesan or romano to sprinkle on after cooking,

Tip 3: This recipe can easily be doubled to use up the other half of the french bread. You can also make individual cheese breads by spreading the mixture on slices of crusty bread.

Tip 4: You can make the bread ahead of time and then bake it just before serving. For maximum melted cheese goodness, make sure you serve the bread hot!

Why are there 5*s when people haven’t tried to make it? Just wondering.

This bread looks amazing! Have you ever tried making it with a spicier pepper other than jalapeno? My mom would love this recipe but I can see her switching it out for a serrano pepper! I’ll be making this soon for an upcoming pasta theme dinner!

OMG!! That bread would have absolutely no chance of lasting a nanosecond at our house. We love all things spicy — jalapeños. Adore things cheesy — cream cheese, mozzarella, and cheddar. And when it comes to bread – well isn’t it the staff of life?! This would be perfect for a picnic or barbecue. I’m putting it on my to do list.

I am trying to remember what I have on hand in my refrigerator so I can stop at the store and get whatever I don’t have because we are having these tonight! It’s been a loooooooong week, and I can’t think of anything I want to do more than gorge on these while watching a movie. Thank you for sharing!!!
