If you haven’t noticed by looking at my dessert page, I personally love chocolate and last week I had a big craving for something chewy, chocolatey and peanutty.   These little gems are a result of that craving. I used super moist triple chocolate cake mix, melted butter, brown sugar and chocolate peanut butter morsels to make some of the best chewy cookies I have ever had.

Recently I have heard a few people talk about how they melt the butter when preparing their cookies. I had never heard of that before, most of the recipes that I had read called for softened butter. But after hearing so much talk about it, I thought I would give it a try and I think it is a little trick that I will use from now on.

Servings

3

Ingredients

  • 1 stick (1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled)
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 package triple chocolate super moist cake mix (I used Betty Crocker)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 10 ounce package swirled milk chocolate and peanut butter morsels ( I used Nestle)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Whisk together melted butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Whisk in eggs. Slowly add in cake mix. Mix until smooth, batter will be thick. Fold in morsels.
  4. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Make rounded teaspoonfuls of cookie dough and lay them 3 inches apart on the baking sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes, cookies will be slightly underdone in the center. Let cool slightly, then transfer to cooling rack to finish cooling, although they are pretty good warm too :)

I just made these – they are fantastic! Instead of a 1/2 cup of butter, i did 1/4 of butter and 1/4 of peanut butter which added more peanut buttery goodness :)
