If you love caramel apples, you’re going to love this Chocolate Caramel Dip. It’s all the deliciousness of caramel apples but without the fuss!

Do you love caramel apples but also aren’t a fan of making them? Maybe you love the flavor but aren’t a fan of the awkwardness of eating them. Well if that is the case, I have got the perfect dessert for you: Chocolate Caramel Dip.

This dip is sweet. It’s creamy. It’s chocolaty. It is great when served with sliced apples or even graham crackers. And the best part? It is so easy to make! You’ll need a handful of ingredients and a microwave and you’re on your way to enjoying this sweet treat.

Let’s talk about what ingredients you’ll need to make it:

Chocolate Caramel Dip Ingredients:

  • CARAMEL CANDIES: Chewy caramel candies, like Werther’s, that you can find in the baking section work the best for this. They will melt down really easily.
  • HALF AND HALF: Will make the melted caramel extra creamy.
  • VANILLA EXTRACT: To bring out the flavor of all the ingredients.
  • CINNAMON: To add a warm flavor that pairs perfectly with caramel and apples.
  • DARK CHOCOLATE: You can use bittersweet baking chocolate or dark chocolate chips.
  • CHOPPED NUTS: Just like caramel apples are sometimes coated in nuts, you can add chopped nuts to the top of this dip. They are optional!

Step by Step Photos and Instructions:

Making Chocolate Caramel dip is super easy! You only need a microwave and you’re good to go. It can also be done on the stovetop, if you prefer.

STEP #1: Place unwrapped caramel candies in a microwave safe bowl with half and half. Heat in 30 second increments until it is melted and smooth.

STEP #2: After melting caramel, stir in cinnamon and vanilla.

STEP #3: Place chocolate in another microwave safe bowl. Cook in 30 second increments until melted and smooth.

STEP #4: Drizzle chocolate into melted caramel. Gently mix or use a knife to swirl. Sprinkle with chopped nuts. Serve with sliced apples or graham crackers. Please note that as this dip cools, it will harden. A quick pop in the microwave will soften everything up again.

Storage and Leftovers:

Chocolate Caramel Dip is best when eaten right away. However, it will keep in the refrigerator for a day or two and soften when microwaved in 30 second increments.

The dip looks great. Great idea with the short cut. When I make caramel for apples if the caramel doesn’t heat to 240 it will not set? What did you dip in this yummy dip?

Oh YUM! I have had awful luck with making my own caramel too, so I love your short cut :)
