Chocolate Ganache

Jump to Recipe

This Chocolate Ganache recipe needs only 2 ingredients! It is great to drizzle over cake, whip into frosting or just eat with a spoon.

Chocolate lovers this one is for you! It doesn’t get any more decadent than perfectly smooth and luscious Chocolate Ganache. Whether you want to pour it over a Pumpkin Cake, a Bailey’s Cheesecake or whipped it and use it as a filling for Black and White Cake, Chocolate Ganache is a dream.

And guess what. It only requires TWO ingredients. That’s right. It sounds all fancy but it is probably one of the easiest chocolate things you can make in the kitchen.

Let’s talk about those two ingredients shall we?

Chocolate Ganache Ingredients:

Like I said, it’s not a long list. Only two.

A bowl of chocolate chips, a whisk and cream.
  • CHOCOLATE: I prefer to use semi-sweet or dark chocolate for this. I find that milk chocolate would be far too sweet. But you do want it to be a little sweet since you aren’t adding any sugar.
  • HEAVY CREAM: This is what is going to make the chocolate ganache the velvety smooth texture.

How to make Chocolate Ganache:

If the amount of ingredients didn’t entice you enough, let me tell you chocolate ganache is even easier to make!

STEP #1: Place heavy cream and chocolate in a microwave safe bowl and heat for 1 minute.

STEP #2: Remove from the microwave and allow to set for 2 minutes. Then whisk until it becomes a smooth and shiny.

And that is it! See I told you it was easy. Now you can use Chocolate Ganache just about any way you want. As it cools it’s going to harden a bit. This makes it perfect for coating cakes. You can spread it on cookies. Or you can whip it and use it as a decadent whipped frosting. When it is still warm and pourable to is also perfect for drizzle over ice cream.

Storage and Leftovers:

To err on the side of caution, it is best to refrigerate chocolate ganache and any dessert that you use it on. If it is on a cake or cookies, allow them to come to room temperature before serving. If it is just the ganache, simply warm it in the microwave in 30 second increments until smooth.
