This Crispy Oven Baked Shrimp Recipe is perfect for weeknights! Coated with seasoned panko and baked until crispy, this is a hit with the whole family!

We eat a lot of shrimp around here. I love it because it’s a quick and easy meal to make which makes it perfect for busy weeknights. And it is also so versatile. You can make it decadent by making Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo. Or make a comfort food meal by making the classic Shrimp and Grits. Or make things a bit spicy by making Chili Crisp Shrimp

And who doesn’t love a good crispy fried shrimp? But guess what, you can get that same crispy goodness without frying! With this Oven Baked Shrimp there is no deep frying necessary making it the perfect easy meal for weeknights.

Let’s talk about what you need to make it.

Crispy Oven Baked Shrimp Ingredients:

  • SHRIMP: Shrimp is sold in sizes per pound. I recommend using a larger shrimp for this recipe, because you’ll be baking it for a bit longer. Extra large shrimp (or 26 – 30 per pound) or Colossal shrimp (16 – 20 per pound) will work the best. I also prefer to leave the tails on. If you need help learning how to devein, check out my handy How to Devein Shrimp guide.
  • FLOUR: To coat the shrimp to give the egg something to adhere too.
  • EGG: This will help the bread crumb mixture stick to the shrimp.
  • PANKO BREAD CRUMBS: I adore using panko breadcrumbs when I’m making a coating for seafood or chicken. They will give you the crispiest crust without being too heavy.
  • OLIVE OIL: Will help the breading brown while it is cooking.
  • GRANULATED GARLIC: You can also use garlic powder. If you use garlic salt, omit the additional salt in the recipe.
  • PAPRIKA: Will give a bit of smokiness to the coating and also add some color.
  • SALT/PEPPER
  • NON-STICK COOKING SPRAY: To help prevent the shrimp from sticking to the bakingpan as well as help the shrimp brown as it cooks.

Step by Step Photos and Instructions:

Making these crispy oven baked shrimp is easy! It will help you to set up an assembly line to make the process easy. Follow along with these step by step photos and instructions.

  • STEP #2: In a shallow bowl combine flour with 1/4 teaspoon each of salt, paprika, pepper and granulated garlic.
  • STEP #3: In a second shallow bowl whisk together egg with 1 tablespoon water.
  • STEP #4: In a third bowl combine  bread crumbs, the remaining salt, paprika, pepper and granulated garlic.
  • STEP #5: Dredge each shrimp in the flour shaking off the excess,  then dip in the egg and finally dredge in the panko mixture.
  • STEP #6: Place shrimp in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 4 minutes. Turn and bake for another 4 minutes or until golden brown. You can also turn on the broiler for 1 – 2 minutes to brown even more. Keep an eye on them though, the broiler can burn them fast.
  • STEP #7: Transfer shrimp to a serving platter, sprinkle with parsley as an optional garnish and serve immediately.

Crispy Oven Baked Shrimp are fabulous dipped in homemade tartar sauce or homemade cocktail sauce.
