This homemade Malted Mocha Ice Cream is a decadent must make for both chocolate and coffee lovers. This creamy frozen treat is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth!
You guys. This ice cream. THIS. ICE. CREAM. If you love coffee and you love chocolate, you are going to fall head over heels in love with this Malted Mocha Ice Cream. It is decadent and creamy. It is loaded with chocolate chips and gets a toasty, rich flavor from Malted Milk.

I’m telling you guys, this one is a winner.
Let’s talk about what you’ll need to make it.
Malted Mocha Ice Cream Ingredients:

- HEAVY CREAM: Heavy cream is made with cream that is 36% milk fat. It is what is going to give this ice cream it’s creamy richness.
- WHOLE MILK: The mixture of whole milk and heavy cream gives the perfect texture to this ice cream. Make sure to use whole milk and not reduced fat or fat free. Reduce fat or fat free milk will cause the ice cream to have more ice crystals.
- GRANULATED SUGAR
- MALTED MILK POWDER: Malted milk powder is made from malted barley, wheat flour and evaporated milk. It gives a rich, buttery, toasty flavor when added to ice cream and milkshakes.
- COCOA POWDER
- INSTANT ESPRESSO POWDER: This is going to add the coffee flavor to the ice cream. You should be able to find it in the coffee aisle or in the baking aisle at your local grocery store.
- VANILLA EXTRACT
- SALT: I know it seems weird to add salt to ice cream but it will help bring out the flavors of all of the ingredients.
- CHOCOLATE CHIPS
Step by Step Photos and Instructions:
You will need an ice cream maker to make this recipe. I use this one from CuisinArt (affiliate link).

Whisk together everything but chocolate chips and chill.
Churn according to ice cream makers manufacturer’s instructions.
Add chocolate chips during the last few minutes of churning.
Transfer to freezer safe container top with more chocolate chips and freeze.
STEP # 1: Whisk together all ingredients, except chocolate chips. Cover and chill for 2 – 4 hours.
STEP #2. Freeze mixture according to the ice cream maker manufacturer’s instructions. During the last few minutes add 3/4 of the chocolate chips.
STEP #3: Transfer ice cream to a freezer safe container, top with remaining chocolate chips and freeze until firm, about 4 hours. Serve.

Storage and Leftovers:
For the best results, I prefer to store my homemade ice cream in insulated ice cream containers (affiliate link). Homemade ice cream is best eaten in a few weeks. After that time ice crystals might start to form and change the texture.
